The Class of 2030 Weekend at a Glance

Thursday, August 6

Parent programming begins on the Yard. The USNA Alumni Association & Foundation Plebe Parent Mixer is scheduled for 4:00–6:00 p.m. at the Fluegel Alumni Center. Families attending Thursday activities should arrive Wednesday evening or early Thursday, not Thursday night.

Friday, August 7

The parents’ forum runs in the morning. Noon formation is at 12:10 p.m.; Class of 2030 town liberty begins at 12:15 p.m., when plebes march out by company. Liberty expires at 10:00 p.m. This is the central reunion day, so a Friday arrival is too late for most families.

Saturday, August 8

The formal parade is scheduled for 8:30–9:30 a.m. on Worden Field. Town liberty begins after the parade, listed at 9:30 a.m., and expires at 10:00 p.m. for most of the class. The Color Company has a later listed expiration.

Sunday, August 9

Town liberty begins at 8:00 a.m. and expires at 6:00 p.m. A Monday, August 10 departure preserves the full Sunday with your plebe and avoids building an airport trip around the end-of-liberty rush.

A Realistic Booking Timeline for Incoming Families

When the appointment is accepted

Once your candidate accepts the appointment and USNA has confirmed the dates, hold one suitable hotel. For full weekend coverage, search for check-in Wednesday, August 5 or Thursday, August 6 and check-out Monday, August 10. Choose a rate whose written cancellation deadline lets you change the plan after I-Day.

Before I-Day: keep it tentative

Until Thursday, June 25, treat the hotel, airfare, rental car, and extra rooms as tentative. Avoid adding nonrefundable rooms for every relative before you know who will actually travel. Name one family decision-maker and record each reservation’s deposit and cancellation deadline.

After I-Day: confirm the core trip

After your candidate reports, confirm the primary hotel, traveler list, flight or driving plan, room occupancy, bedding, and ground transportation. USNA’s packet says the detailed weekend schedule would be available on or after June 1; use the live schedule rather than an old parent-group post.

Two to three weeks before the weekend

Recheck the USNA schedule, DBIDS or visitor-access instructions, hotel cancellation dates, restaurant reservations, and every traveler’s arrival time. Keep at least one meal option flexible for takeout, room service, or an exhausted plebe.

If you are booking after I-Day

Do not wait for a perfect downtown room. Compare Parole, Riva Road, and other Annapolis-area hotels first, then widen toward the BWI corridor if needed. Price the full stay, parking, and transportation—not only the nightly rate.

Best for maximizing time with your plebe

Look first for a stay that supports a Wednesday or Thursday arrival and Monday departure. That protects Thursday programming, Friday’s reunion, and the full Sunday liberty period without forcing an early goodbye.

Best for a simpler last-minute decision

Prioritize confirmed bedding, acceptable cancellation terms, parking, and a realistic drive over small differences in style. A room that fits the travelers and transportation plan is more valuable than an aspirational location that creates new problems.

Choose one decision-maker and compare each household’s dates, room type, occupancy, mobility needs, and budget before anyone books. Separate reservations may have different deposits and cancellation deadlines even at the same property.

The Visitor Control Center is listed from 7:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m. for DBIDS distribution and the stadium shuttle from 7:00 a.m.–9:30 p.m. Complete access steps first, then fit the museum, simulators, or Dahlgren Hall around the 4:00–6:00 p.m. mixer. No Thursday plebe liberty is listed.

Friday: choose among overlapping morning events

PEP, Colors, laboratory tours, and the parents’ forum overlap. Pick priorities, allow walking time, and be settled before the 12:10 p.m. formation and 12:15 p.m. march-out. The 12:30–2:00 p.m. room visit overlaps liberty, so follow company instructions before committing to lunch.

Keep Friday afternoon open for food, a shower, laundry, sleep, and family time. Begin the return plan around 8:45 p.m. for the listed 10:00 p.m. liberty expiration.

Saturday: keep brunch and activities flexible

The 8:30 a.m. parade and approximately 9:30 a.m. liberty start are weather-dependent. Avoid a rigid brunch time. If your plebe wants an activity, choose one short Saturday afternoon option and keep the evening close to Annapolis.

Sunday: plan without the stadium shuttle

Sunday liberty is listed from 8:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m., and no stadium shuttle is listed. Decide the drop-off plan early and begin the return around 5:15 p.m. A Monday flight protects the final hours.

Choose the Stay That Matches the 2026 Schedule

Best coverage: August 5–10

Check in Wednesday and leave Monday. This protects Thursday programming, the Friday 12:15 p.m. reunion, and the full Sunday liberty period through 6:00 p.m. It is the least rushed option for families flying or traveling several hours.

Practical shorter stay: August 6–10

Arrive Thursday early enough to check in or store luggage before the 4:00 p.m. mixer, then depart Monday. Confirm the hotel’s luggage policy and Thursday arrival time before relying on this plan.

Sunday departure: possible, but compressed

A Sunday flight means either leaving your plebe before the 6:00 p.m. end of liberty or accepting a late airport arrival. Families who want every available hour should keep Sunday night and travel Monday.

Pick a Location for How Your Family Will Use It

Downtown, West Street, and Eastport

Choose this area when walking to restaurants and the Yard matters more than room size or easy parking. Verify the actual walking route, paid parking, minimum stay, and whether grandparents can manage August heat and uneven historic sidewalks.

Parole, Riva Road, and the Annapolis hotel corridor

Choose this area when you want simpler parking, two-bed rooms, or a quieter base for sleep and takeout. Plan for event traffic and decide in advance who will drive, park, or use the Navy–Marine Corps Memorial Stadium shuttle when it is operating.

BWI corridor

Use the airport corridor as a backup when Annapolis inventory or rates no longer work. It can simplify an early Monday flight, but it is not a convenient midday retreat for your plebe. Keep the drive and event traffic in the family schedule.

Before paying, confirm the exact bed type, occupancy limit, parking charge, accessibility features, deposit, minimum stay, and cancellation deadline. A request for two beds or connecting rooms is not a guarantee unless the reservation confirms it.

Build Each Liberty Period Around Your Plebe

Friday gives families roughly 12:15–10:00 p.m.; Saturday begins after the parade and runs to 10:00 p.m. for most plebes; Sunday is 8:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. Those windows are long enough for rest, meals, laundry, and family time without scheduling every hour.

• Ask your plebe what food and rest they want before making a restaurant plan
• Limit fixed reservations to one or two priorities
• Use a hotel or rental that gives the plebe a comfortable place to sit or sleep
• Keep grandparents’ and siblings’ transportation separate when their schedules differ
• Set a specific return-to-Yard buffer before each liberty expiration
• Carry the current USNA schedule instead of relying on screenshots from an earlier class

Friday’s room visit window is listed for 12:30–2:00 p.m. Plebe company areas and weather alternatives can affect where families meet, so follow USNA’s day-of instructions rather than choosing an unofficial reunion point.

Optional Annapolis Activities That Fit the Weekend

Do not book an activity for Friday before or immediately after the 12:15 p.m. reunion. Your plebe may want food, sleep, laundry, or quiet family time instead of a tour.

Saturday afternoon or Sunday late morning can support one short optional activity if your plebe wants it. Favor a 60-to-120-minute experience near downtown or your hotel, flexible cancellation terms, a clear weather policy, and enough time to return well before liberty expires.
